About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of the life and service of Robert W. Captain of Scio, who passed away on 15 December 2019.

Mr. Captain served almost 2 years active duty in the US Army from 1970-1971, including 12 months in Vietnam at Chu Lai Army Base. His MOS was 63B20-Wheeled Vehicle Repairman, and he was attached to 1st Battalion, 14th Artillery Regiment. Mr. Captain was Honorably Discharged on 4 October 1971 with the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4), and he earned the following awards: Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and 1 Overseas Bar.
Mr. Captain was a member of the American Legion in Cuba, NY.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:
IMPORTANT

The Mandatory Rules for Covid-19 protection practices...these WILL be strictly enforced.

  • Stay a minimum of 6 feet apart from each other at all times.
  • No handshaking, fist-bumping, hugs, cheek kissing or any other physical contact.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: The family is expected to leave their home on Billings Hill Road at 3:45.
PGR will meet them with a flag line, then provide escort to Knights Creek Cemetery via Comfort Hollow Road.
(Knights Creek Road is also County Road 9)
Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
Please be prepared to abide by current social distancing and face covering requirements.
Please be aware we are very busy on Saturday in Region-1, with five Missions.
Please do your best to help support these Missions, including this one in honor of Army Vietnam Veteran Robert Captain, and in support of his loving family.
