About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Paul A. Rhonemus of Buffalo, who passed away on 8 March 2021.

Mr. Rhonemus first served over 2 years in the New York Army National Guard from 1961-1963. He was attached to Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 152nd Engineer Battalion (Armored Division) in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Rhonemus was Honorably Discharged on 6 January 1963 in order to enter active duty in the US Army Corps of Engineers, where he served for 3 years from 1963-1965. He was stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany for most of his active duty, attached to the 502nd Engineer Company (Floating Bridge), 565th Engineer Battalion, 7th Engineer Brigade. His MOS was Bridge Specialist, and he was Honorably Discharged on 29 December 1965 with the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4.) Mr. Rhonemus earned the National Defense Service Medal and weapons qualification badges for M-1 & M-14 Rifles. Mr. Rhonemus went on to serve as a civilian employee of the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1996.

  • ** ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade face-mask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Per current PGRNY COVID protocol, calling hours (3:00-7:00) will NOT be covered.
PGR will provide a flag line for the 7:00 PM Memorial Service and Military Honors.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag.
