About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the extraordinary life and military career of MSgt. (Ret) William E. Johnson, who passed away on 12 November 2021.

MSgt. Johnson served our Nation for a total of 31 years in the Air National Guard and US Air Force from 1981-2012. He served active duty deployments following 9/11. His Air Force Specialty was 2W071-Munitions System Craftsman, and his assignments included the 107th Air Attack Wing and 914th Airlift Wing in Niagara Falls, NY.

MSgt. Johnson was honorably retired from the 127th Maintenance Squadron, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan on 6 January 2012, and he earned the following awards: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Ribbon w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal w/9 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon w/6 Oak Leaf Clusters, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/3 Hourglass Devices, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/"M" Mobilization Device, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (Rifle), Air Force Training Ribbon, and Michigan Broadsword Service Medal w/3 Devices.

MSgt. Johnson was a member of the Green Knights Military Motorcycle Club in Niagara Falls, and an avid Harley-Davidson rider.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

  • While in any outdoor setting, fully vaccinated PGR members will no longer be required to wear masks but are asked to act responsibly and respect your fellow members decision on this issue. For the protection of others, non-vaccinated members are asked to please wear a mask.
  • For the immediate future, all PGR members will continue to wear masks and social distance while indoors during a mission.
  • Masks will be worn at any other location where organizers, requestors or the Lead Ride Captain has determined that this be done.
  • Going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please respect the LRC’s decision on these matters.

Special Information: PGR will stand a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.  Following Mass and the dignified transfer, PGR will escort to Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 800 Pine Ridge Heritage Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14225 for burial with Military Honors.  Click here for map

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or USAF flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.  Thank you for taking time to help honor the military career of William E. Johnson, and to support his proud and loving family.

NOTE: We have 2 Mission at the same time in this part of the Region. Please do your best to help honor one of them.
