About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of the life and service of Michael Timothy McDermott of Lackawanna, NY, who passed away on 30 September 2020.

Mr. McDermott served 4 years on active duty in the US Air Force from 1963-1967, with an Air Force Specialty of 81150-Security Policeman. He was attached to the 817th Security Police Squadron, Strategic Air Command. Mr. McDermott was Honorably Discharged from active duty on 11 August 1967 with the rank of Airman 1st Class (E-4), and received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. McDermott was a Life Member and Past Commander of the Lackawana American Legion Post 63.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information:

We will form a Flag Line for the arrival of family and friends.
Memorial Service at 10:00 AM.
Followed by dignified transfer and escort to Lakeside Cemetery for interment with Military Honors.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or USAF flag, and dress for the weather.
