About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of the life and service of Michael S. Jones, Sr. of Medina, who passed away on 22 September 2020 at the age of 64 following a very long illness. Mr. Jones was 100% disabled, due in part to a parachute jump accident while on active duty.

Mr. Jones served almost 7 years on active duty in the US Army from 1974-1981. His MOS was 63H20-Automotive Repairer, and he became a member of the Special Forces (Green Beret). His duty included service with the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Jones was Honorably Discharged on 12 May 1981 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5), and he earned 2 US Army Good Conduct Awards and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Jones was a member of both the Medina American Legion and VFW.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Flag Line for arrival of family.
Following a dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort (KSU approx. 9:30 AM) to Boxwood Cemetery, Route 63, Medina for Military Honors to be rendered.
PGR will then provide an escort of Mr. Jones and his family to their home in Medina.
Mission will end at this point.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
