|About the Mission:||The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Michael M. Walker of Amherst, NY who passed away on 10 November 2021.
Mr. Walker served almost 2 years on active duty in the US Army from 1969-1971, with an MOS of 11B20-Light Weapons Infantryman. He was attached to Bravo Company, 5th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment (5/31), 197th Infantry Brigade, and he served 13 months of foreign duty in Vietnam from Oct. 1969-Nov. 1970.
Mr. Walker was honorably discharged from active duty on 3 September 1971 with the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4), and he earned the following awards: Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; 2 Overseas Bars; and M-14 & M-16 Marksman Qualification Badges.
Per the Amigone Funeral Home obituary: "Michael was past President of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 77 and the Western District Director of the NYS Council of Vietnam Veterans. Michael dedicated his retirement to the well being and recognition of all veterans."
