Martin C. Phelps, VeteranUSA Fire - Vietnam Era

ABOUT THE MISSION:
We have been requested to stand in Honor of the Military and Fire Department Service of Martin C. "Marty" Phelps, who passed away on April 25th. Mr. Phelps was a long-time public servant, first serving our Nation for 3 years in the U.S. Army (1961-1964). The majority of his Military time was spent with Company E., 24th Engineering Battalion, 4th Armored Division in Germany. His MOS was 120.00 - Pioneer, and he was Honorably Discharged with the rank of PFC (E-3). PFC Phelps earned the Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; and Expert Rifle (M-14) Badge. Marty went on to serve for over 50 years as a Volunteer Fireman, and retired as a City of Batavia Fireman. He was Chief of the "Lives Are Precious" Fire & Burn Prevention Program in Batavia, and a volunteer youth counselor/advocate for arson-related crimes, burn victims and their families. Escort to Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph's Site), 303 East Main Street, Batavia.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
Followed by Military Honors at the Church.
(No Cemetery escort. Mr. Phelps will be laid to rest in the future WNY National Cemetery.)
A large turnout of the community is expected, including 1st Responders.
Please do whatever you are able to help support this Mission.
Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American Flag or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
If you choose to ride, please ensure your large bike flags are properly placed and securely attached.
SPECIAL NOTE: Saturday May 6th is a very busy day in Region-1, with 3 Funeral Missions and BN Honor Flight.
Please make an effort to provide support as much as possible.
