Honor Mission

Kenneth A. Young, Veteran

Hamburg, New York - 27 Jun 2017

We have been requested to participate in Honoring the WWII Service of Kenneth A. Young of East Aurora. This is a unique Mission. Mr. Young passed away in 2005, and his family has had custody of his urn. Unfortunately, his wife Mary Louise Young was tragically killed in an auto accident this past weekend. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be this coming Tuesday in East Aurora, with burial in Lakeside Cemetery Field of Valor, Hamburg. The PGR will be waiting at the Cemetery with a Flag Line, because Mr. and Mrs. Young will be interred together. VFW Post 1419 will also participate in rendering Military Honors. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 as a Surgical Technician, including time with the 242nd General Hospital Unit in the European Theater of Operations from December, 1944 - August, 1945, including the Rhineland Campaign. Mr. Young was Honorably Discharged on 8 April 1946 with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. For his WWII Service, T-5 Young was awarded: Army Good Conduct Medal; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/Bronze Campaign Star; WW-II Victory Medal.
