|About the Mission:||The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of the life and service of US Air Force Vietnam Veteran John E. Mertsock of Wellsville, who passed away on 5 March 2020.
Mr. Mertsock served 3 years, 5 months active duty from 1963-1966, with an Air Force Specialty of 77150-Air Policeman. He served 11 months at Pleiku Air Base, Vietnam from November 1965-October 1966, with a specialty of Dog Handler. Mr. Mertsock was Honorably Discharged on 12 October 1966 with the rank of Airman First Class (E-4), and he earned the following: Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Mertsock was a member of the Wellsville VFW Post #2530, Wellsville American Legion Post #702 and AMVETS Post #1 in Cuba.

Funeral Service at 11:00 am.
Followed by escort to Bath National Cemetery for Burial with Military Honors.
Note to Bath area PGR members: If you are unable to participate in Wellsville, please consider staging at Bath National Cemetery to receive the contingent and participate in Military Honors.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Air Force flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached for highway speeds to Bath.
