About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of James Patrick O'Connor, Sr. of West Seneca, NY, who passed away on 5 January 2022.

Mr. O'Connor served for 3 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1969-1972, with an MOS of 2531-Field Radio Operator. He served 13 months of duty in Vietnam, and his final duty assignment was with Sub Unit #2, Headquarters & Service Co., Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (3/8) at Camp Lejeune, NC. Mr. O'Connor was Honorably Discharged on 30 September 1972 with the rank of Corporal (E-4), and he earned the following awards: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and Pistol Marksman Badge.

  • While in any outdoor setting, fully vaccinated PGR members will no longer be required to wear masks but are asked to act responsibly and respect your fellow members decision on this issue. For the protection of others, non-vaccinated members are asked to please wear a mask.
  • For the immediate future, all PGR members will continue to wear masks and social distance while indoors during a mission.
  • Masks will be worn at any other location where organizers, requestors or the Lead Ride Captain has determined that this be done.
  • Going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please respect the LRC’s decision on these matters.

Special Information: PGR will provide a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and guests.
The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
There is no escort or cemetery involved in this Mission.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag, and dress for the weather.
