Honor Mission

ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been requested to stand in Honor of Buffalo Police Officer Craig E. Lehner, who tragically lost his life on October 17th during a Underwater Recovery Team training in the Niagara River. Officer Lehner joined the BPD in 2008, and in addition to being an URT member, served as a full-time K-9 Officer with his partner, Canine Officer "Shield." Mr. Lehner's Military Service included Active Duty Army and Army National Guard, with a specialty of Military Police. He did deployments to Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, and achieved the rank of Specialist (E-4.) His awards included the National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M Device; Army Service Ribbon; Marksman Marksmanship Qualification Badges for Rifle & Pistol Bars.

IMPORTANT PARKING NOTE DUE TO EXPECTED HEAVY ATTENDANCE: Bikes only will be allowed to park behind the FH. Cages must park off-site either at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4262 St. Francis Drive, or Woodlawn Beach parking lot, 3580 Lake Shore Road. A continuous shuttle will be available.

Flags Will NOT Be Provided, Please Bring Your Own.
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.

Be aware: Buffalo Police Department wants ONLY large bike flags for the escort. Any bike without a large flag will have to either go to the Key Bank Center or to the Cemetery.

Special Instructions:

PGR has been invited by the Buffalo Police Department to participate in the Dignified Escort of Officer Lehner to the 10:00 A.M. Funeral at the Key Bank Center, Buffalo. KSU by 9:00 A.M.

The Buffalo Police Department is very familiar with the PGR and respects what we do, thus the invitation.  Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American Flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large bike flags are properly placed and securely attached. Please be prepared to participate with a Flag Line during the Funeral.

Following the Funeral, it is expected we will participate in providing a Dignified Escort of Officer Lehner and his family to Forest Lawn Cemetery.
NOTE: Watch for Mission updates regarding possible staging times/locations for Region-2 members.
