ABOUT THE MISSION:
We have been requested to stand in Honor of the U.S. Naval Service of Charles Edward Washington, who passed away unexpectedly on May 8th. Mr. Washington served from 1970-1974, most of which time he was stationed aboard the USS Hawkins (DD873) as a machinist. During his time of service, the USS Hawkins supported Apollo space missions and operated with the Standing Naval Force Atlantic in Northern European waters. Mr. Washington was Honorably Discharged on 26 April 1974 with the rating of Seaman (E-3). For his Service to our Nation during the Vietnam War, SN Washington was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
