About the Mission:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of the US Army WWII service of Alphonse H. Staskiewicz, who passed away on 15 July 2020.

Mr. Staskiewicz served almost 2 years active duty from 1944-1946 with the US Army Corps of Engineers, including 16 months in the European Theater of Operations.
He was attached to Company B, 355th Engineer Regiment, and he was involved in the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns. According to his daughter, Mr. Staskiewicz was most proud of being involved in the construction of the pontoon bridge built by the Combat Engineers across the Rhine (called "Beer-Bridge"), downstream from the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen. Mr. Staskiewicz was Honorably Discharged from active duty on 3 July 1946 with the rank of TEC4 (Sergeant), and earned the following: Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Campaign Stars, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), WWII Victory Medal and NYS Medal for Merit.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Flag Line for arrival of family.
Short Prayer Service at 9:15 AM.
KSU at 9:30 for dignified transfer and escort to Queen of Martyrs RC Church, 180 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM.
Followed by escort to St. Stanislaus Cemetery for Burial with Military Honors.
Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
IMPORTANT: Current Erie County and PGRNY social distancing and face covering requirements WILL BE ENFORCED! If you are not willing to abide by these rules, we respectfully ask that you do not participate.
