About the Mission:
The following excerpt is contained on the official Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five Facebook page:  "Equipment Operator 3rd Class Aaron Fish, from Tully, New York, and assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, died in an automobile accident while traveling to Camp Pendleton on the morning of March 2."

"Fish deployed with NMCB-5 to Detail Guam, where he was vital to the completion of complex engineering taskings, such as assisting with the 150-bed Expeditionary Medical Facility as part of the Department of Defense’s fight against COVID-19 on board Naval Base Guam."

"He was Seabee Combat Warfare qualified, received a Flag Letter of Commendation from the Joint Region Marinas for his COVID-19 recovery efforts, and was recently meritoriously advanced to Petty Officer 3rd Class. Fish also volunteered, became certified in CPR, and completed numerous other weapon qualifications—including the M-16 rifle, M-9 pistol, and crew serve weapons."

This 26 yr old Navy Seabee will be arriving at the Rochester International Airport and then escorted by cage to Lafayette, NY.  Specific arrival details will be disseminated at the pre-mission briefing.

  • Stay a minimum of 6 feet apart from each other at all times.
  • No handshaking or any other physical contact of any kind..

  • ** ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade face-mask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Members will stand an honorable flag line during dignified transfer. Those who are available will escort to Weedsport, NY thruway exit Park and Ride (see map link below) where our Region 3 brothers will pick up the escort.  Estimated departure time from the airport is 1:00 pm.
