Honor Mission

Carl Richard "Dick" Rapp

US Navy - WWII Era Veteran

Lima, New York - 11--09-18


The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of the US Naval Service of Carl Richard "Dick" Rapp of Lima, who passed away on 4 November 2018.

Mr. Rapp served active duty from 1944-1946 with the rating of Aviation Radioman. Following several training schools in New York, Tennessee, Florida and Texas, his duty stations included Buffalo, Rochester, Corpus Christi, Jacksonville, Brooklyn and Lido Beach. Mr. Rapp was Honorably Discharged on 7 June 1946 with the rating of ARM3 and rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4), and was awarded the American Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal.

OF SPECIAL NOTE: The spouse of Mr. Rapp is a Gold Star Wife. Her first husband - William Paul Dever III - served in the US Army Air Corps. On his 7th Mission over the Adriatic Sea, he was shot down on Veteran's Day 1944. Considered MIA for 1 year, he was subsequently declared deceased by the US Army. His remains were never recovered.

Prayer Service at the FH.
Followed by Dignified Transfer and escort to St. Rose Church, Lake Avenue (Rt. 15A) for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Followed by escort to St. Rose Cemetery, Evergreen Street, Lima for Interment with Military Honors.
Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American Flag or US Navy flag, and dress for the weather.
This is not only an opportunity to Honor the Naval Service of Mr. Rapp, but to acknowledge the sacrifice his wife made many years ago.
