Michael C. Ukaj

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of United States Marine Corps War on Terror veteran, Michael Christopher Ukaj, has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in his military honors funeral services. Michael, age 34 of Caroga Lake, passed away unexpectedly on his 34th birthday on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from a tragic limo accident in the Town of Schoharie.

Born in Queens, NY on October 6, 1984, Michael was a 2002 graduate of Hampden Academy in Maine, and later received his Bachelors Degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation, on July 30, 2002, trained as a Bulk Fuel Specialist (MOS 1391), and later as a Technical Controller.  He served a tour of duty in Iraq, and was honorably discharged on October 31, 2007 at the rank of Sergeant (E-5).  For his service, Michael was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, SEA Service Deployment Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and was presented with a Letter of Appreciation (2nd award).

After his discharge, Michael worked in security and for GameStop electronic retail company. He also volunteered with Search & Research of Upstate New York. Michael loved to help people.

Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., followed by escort and interment at Saratoga National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.  Wednesday's forecast calls for temps in the 40's, with a chance of rain.  Please dress accordingly.
