Rowland E. "Ronnie" Smith

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of WWII Hero Rowland "Ronnie" Smith of Livonia, who passed away on 2 June 2018 at the age of 98.

Mr. Smith served over 4-1/2 years active duty in the US Army Signal Corps from 1940-1945, including almost 3 years in the European Theater of Operations with Company D, 3113rd Signal Service Battalion, connected to the 1st & 18th Infantry Divisions. He was involved in the following campaigns: French-Morocco, Sicily, and Tunisia. Mr. Smith was Honorably Discharged from Active Duty on 3 July 1945 with the rank of Technician 5th Grade, and earned the following awards: Bronze Star; Army Good Conduct Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; American Defense Service Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/3 Campaign Stars.

Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American Flag or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
This is a relatively short Mission. Please consider contributing some time to help Honor the WWII Service of Rowland "Ronnie" Smith and to support his very proud and loving family.
