Honor Mission

Charles J. Schwalenstocker

US Army, WWII Veteran
Firefighter

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of another WWII hero. Charles J. Schwalenstocker served active duty in the Army Infantry from 1942-1946. Following initial training, he served considerable time as a medic at Walter Reed Hospital, before being shipped to the European Theater of Operations to serve as a  weapons platoon runner with Company D, 309th Infantry (Lightning Division.). He was involved in the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Schwalenstocker was honorably discharged on 
21 January 1946 with the rank of Private First Class, and earned the following awards:  Bronze Star Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/2 Campaign Stars; WW-II Victory Medal; M-1 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge; Carbine Marksman Badge; WWII Honorable Service Pin. Mr Schwalenstocker was also a proud 70-year member and officer of the Attica Volunteer Fire Department.

Flag Line for arrival of family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., followed by dignified transfer and escort to St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery, Exchange Street, Attica for burial with military honors. 

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American flag or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are properly placed and securely attached.
