Memorial Mission

Flag Placement and Pickup
Calverton National Cemetery

Calverton, New York
Placement - 26 May 2018
Pickup - 02/June 2018

ABOUT THE MISSION:

On Saturday, May 26, all volunteers are to gather at their pre-assigned areas (we are at section 42) at Calverton National Cemetery, where we will place American Flags to recognize and honor our military service men and women.

Each flag is to be placed firmly into the ground in the center on the veterans name side of the upright stone. At 11:00 am all volunteers and families are invited to the main assembly area to gather for a brief ceremony and enjoy some refreshments. We have been invited to be one of the guest speakers at the ceremony.

PGR NY Regions 8 and 9 will meet at Section 42. We are allowed to place flags on gravesites of those we know between 8 and 9 a.m.

This is a rain or shine event.

**Please take note of all the times..Its really important not to start placing or picking up flags until the time given..

Also there will be a lot of traffic going to the cemetery and leaving. We start at 9:30 am sharp, so I suggest you try to arrive early so that you don't miss out on placing flags.

Every participant will receive a 2018 special patch (which are given out on flag pick-up day)

Flag pick-up : Flag pick-up day will be on Saturday June 2nd 2018 9:30 am sharp (**please do not pick up flags earlier than 9:30 am).
Roll 20 Flags to a bundle, secure with a rubber band, and place in the flag boxes. Broken flags should be placed into a plastic bag next to the flag boxes.
