ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Captain Henry "Hank" A. Skubik, 94, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to render Honor, Dignity, and Respect as we leave him in his final resting place at Calverton National Cemetery.
Captain Skubik was shot down in his B17 over enemy territory. Captured after parachuting from his flaming craft at 25,000 feet, he was taken prisoner and held at Dulag Loft - Wetzlar. Shot down and imprisoned again, he was taken to Stalag XIIIB - Nuremberg, and also held at Stalag VIIA - Moosburg.
He was awarded the Purple Heart w/Oak Leaf Cluster, POW Medal, Air Medal w/3 Oak Leaf Clusters; WWII Victory Medal, European Theatre of Operations Ribbon w/3 Bronze Battle Stars, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and American Campaign Medal.
He then served in the Air Force Reserves until 1963, ultimately rising to rank of Captain.
Service Details of Memorial service: Saturday, 20 January 2018, 2 - 6 PM
(the 73rd anniversary of his being shot down and taken captive.)
It will be a life celebration.
Burial with Military Honors at Calverton National Cemetery on Monday 22 January 2018.
