The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to report that for the first time since the inception of the Wreaths Across America program, on December 16, 2017, a Holiday Wreath was placed on every gravesite at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. The Patriot Guard Riders, along with several thousand community volunteers respectfully placed those wreaths, but much more importantly, took the time to honor and remember over 11,000 of our fallen soldiers, sailors and airmen resting in that place of honor.

We wish to sincerely thank everyone who made that goal a reality, particularly those who contributed via the PGRNY “Three For Two” program. Through that program, fully 100% of your contribution went toward the sponsorship of wreaths, with a total of almost 3,800 wreaths (over 1/3 of the total) provided….a truly outstanding effort.

Now that the bar has been set, we look forward to achieving that goal each and every year going forward, and we are confident that with your generous help and support, we can do just that. Once again, our heartfelt thanks for honoring and remembering our fallen heroes.

MULTI-CITY, New York - 17 Nov 2017


The family of Saratoga County Deputy Sheriff John Michael Brown has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Deputy Brown, 45, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

Born in Glens Falls, John graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1990, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps the following year. He served with distinction as part of the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, stationed on Galeta Island, Panama. For his service, he was awarded the USMC Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge and was Honorably discharged in December of 1993 at the rank of PFC.

After the service, John returned home to Glens Falls, where he chose to continue a life of service with a career in law enforcement. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, he attended the Police Academy and went on to serve many Capital District communities with the Mechanicville Police Department, Altamont Police Department and South Glens Falls Police Department. He joined the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff in 2005, and was in training as a Sheriff's Investigator. Later in life, John took up endurance sports, competing in several triathlons and half-marathons.
