ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Saratoga County Deputy Sheriff John Michael Brown has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Deputy Brown, 45, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

Born in Glens Falls, John graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1990, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps the following year. For his service, he was awarded the USMC Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Medal, the Rifle Marksman Badge and was Honorably discharged in December of 1993 at the rank of PFC.

After the service, John returned home to Glens Falls, where he chose to continue a life of service with a career in law enforcement. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, he attended the Police Academy and went on to serve many Capital District communities with the Mechanicville Police Department, Altamont Police Department and South Glens Falls Police Department. He joined the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff in 2005, and was in training as a Sheriff's Investigator.
