The family of Mr. Richard M. Lehner, United States Army, Korean War Era Veteran has requested Patriot Guard Rider presence at his military honors funeral services.

Richard  M. “Dick” Lehner Sr., 83, passed away on April 19, 2017 at home surrounded by his family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany NY, he graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army with the Corps of Engineers from 1953 to 1955. His MOS was 1729, Combat Construction Specialist. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was Honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.

Upon his discharge, Dick returned home and attended Hudson Valley Community College, graduating in 1957. He began working for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T), retiring in 1988. Dick filled his retirement years with his many hobbies and interests. He was a proud member of the NRA, the Bethlehem Sportsman Club, the Pioneers (Telephone Pioneers of America), and the ELKS. He volunteered as a member of the Pioneers for many years to repair broken toys for the Albany PBA, and repaired Books on Tape recorders for the blind and visually handicapped.

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for and display dignity, honor and respect for the life and service of United States Army Veteran, and my friend, Mr. Richard M. Lehner.
