John Charles Smith

US Army - Korean War Veteran

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand for and honor the life and service of John Charles Smith who passed away January 5th, 2019 after a long illness. John was raised in Corinth New York and graduated from High School in 1949, then was later drafted during the Korean War as a communications specialist serving in South Korea. He was employed for a short time at international paper as an electrician and then later went to work with IBM as a field service engineer for over 30 years. John was an Amateur Ham Radio operator and he was a member of American Radio Relay League. John was also a founding member of Saratoga Amateur Radio Association and was also active with the Schenectady Amateur Radio Leagues. He also enjoyed being a scoutmaster for the BSA when his boys were growing up.

We will stand a flag line at the church for the arrival of funeral procession for 11:30 Mass. After mass we will join funeral procession to Saratoga National Cemetery for 1:30 interment.

Flags will not be provided, please bring your own.
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.

Please stage quietly and be aware of any services in progress. Do not gather at Visitor Center. Be alert of the weather report and dress for it, it will be cold and windy as always at Saratoga National.
