Honor Mission

James LaBrake

USA / USARNG - Vietnam Veteran

Hudson Falls, New York - 12-20/21-18

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand for and honor James "Jim" LaBrake.  Jim, 69, passed away December 12th after a long battle with kidney disease and cancer.

Born in Malone, NY, Jim graduated from Hudson Falls High School and soon after, enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971 in the 1st Air Calvary, where he received a Purple Heart. Jim made the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard his career for 20 years.

For many years, Jim was a welder at Valmet Sandy Hill Corp and at several other shops in the area. A couple months before his passing I saw him sitting outside in his hoveround doing some welding. I also saw Jim in his hoveround recently using a leaf blower to clean his yard.  He wouldn't take help from anyone.  Jim was a member of the Hudson Falls American Legion and the Foothills ATV club in Hartford, New York.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Jim's obituary, available for viewing online on the Carleton Funeral Home website:

The Patriot Guard Riders will be there to render honor, dignity and respect for the life and service of my friend Jim Labrake.
