Honor Mission

Henry D. Newbigging
US Navy - WWII

Dale Newbigging
USAF - Vietnam

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of another veteran of WWII. Henry D. Newbigging of Tonawanda passed away on 28 October 2018 at the age of 100.

Mr Newbigging served 7 years active duty in the US Navy from 1939-1946. Detailed information is pending, but we know he served 3-1/2 years sea service, and was honorably discharged on 22 March 1946 with the rank of Ensign. He earned the following awards: Navy Good Conduct Medal; American Defense Medal; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; Phillipine Liberation Medal.


In addition to honoring Henry D. Newbigging, his late son Dale M. Newbigging, who passed away in 2016, will also be honored. Dale Newbigging served over 3-1/2 years active duty in the US Air Force from 1964-1968, including 3 years of foreign service, including duty in Vietnam. He was attached to the 6924th Security Squadron, and was honorably discharged on 28 June 1968 with the rank of Sergeant (E-4). Dale Newbigging earned the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Service Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Assemble at the funeral home in preparation for escorting two hearses ( father & son) to St. Andrew Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive at Elmwood Avenue.  Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM.
Mission ends at end of mass.

Interments and military honors willoccur at a later date.

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American flag, US Navy flag or US Air Force flag, and dress for the weather.  This is a relatively short mission. Please do whatever you're able to help honor the military service of Henry D. New bigger and his son Dale.
