Edward R. Springer III

US Army and DOC Officer

Multi-City, New York - 10-19-18



The family of Mr. Edward R. Springer III has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Edward, 54, passed on Sunday, October 14, 2018.

Edward was born in Troy, NY and was a graduate of School 9 in Watervliet and Watervliet High School, class of 1982 where he played baseball.

He was a US Army veteran serving in White Sands, New Mexico and Mannheim, Germany and remained in the Army Reserves until 1989.

He was a New York State Corrections Officer from 1995-2014 working in Sing Sing, Shawangunk and Greene Correctional Facilities. He was also a member of the Mechanicville and Green Island American Legion, Knights of Columbus in Latham, Watervliet AOH and Grace Fellowship Church where he was a member of the Security Team and the Men’s Group.

Ed loved his family and was a true family man. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, camping at Deer Run Campground and was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan.
