Edwin F. Murtha

U.S. Army - WW II Veteran
and Firefighter

Middleburgh, New York - 09-22-18

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Edwin F. Murtha has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand and honor his service to our country.  Mr. Murtha, who died on September 5th, was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army serving from 1943 to 1946.  He was a truck driver with an Armored Division.  He was discharged a Tech-5.

Ed was also a volunteer fireman with 50 years dedication to the Town of Broome and recognized as the Fireman-of-the-Year in 2008.

Special Instructions:

The Patriot Guard Riders will stand a flag line for the arrival of family and friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m..  We will reform our flag line again following his service for other military tributes, including the Army Honor Guard presenting a folded flag, The gun salute by The American Legion, and the playing of taps.  In addition, two fire trucks will be on display.

The is a memorial service only, so we will not be doing an escort.

PARKING NOTE:  Parking at the funeral home is limited.  Therefore, I am asking those who can do so, park at the Reformed Church of Middleburgh, 178 River Street, Middleburgh and walk the short distance to the funeral home.

Flags will not be provided.
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
