Francis A. "Frank" Ashley

US Navy - WWII

The family of Mr. Francis A. "Frank" Ashley has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Ashley, 92, passed on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

Born in West Stockbridge, MA, Frank was a graduate of Watervliet High School, and later in life graduated from Hudson Valley Community College. He enlisted in the US Navy and, after completing Diesel Mechanic training, was assigned to the USS Dayton (CL-105), a Cleveland-class light cruiser serving in the Pacific Theater. Frank was honorably discharged in May of 1946 at the rank of Petty Officer and a rating of Machinst Mate 2nd Class.

After the War, Frank returned home to Watervliet and worked for the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady. He later completed the Machinist Apprentice program at the Watervliet Arsenal, where he worked for 33 years.

Special Instructions:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Following an 11:00 a.m. funeral service, members will escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for a 1:30 p.m. interment service.  In case of inclement weather, cages are suggested.

Flags & Water:

Flags will not be provided  
If you have a large flag bike, please bring it.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.

Special Instructions:

For those staging directly at the cemetery, please be aware of any services already in progress. If a service is in progress, riders should wait at the Solomon Memorial until completion.

Interment with full military honors scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Please dress for the weather.

Flags & Water:

Flags will not be provided  
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
