ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of MAJ James Scott Lewis has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. MAJ Lewis, 51, passed on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Scott was a graduate of Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School, class of 1985, graduate of HVCC in 1999, and earned his Physicians Assistant degree at Touro College. Scott was currently serving as a Major in the New York Army National Guard, most recently serving at Fort Hamilton, NY, as part of the 24th Civil Support Team. He previously served with the Medical Command at the Watervliet Arsenal, NY. His military career began in 1987, in the United States Marine Corps as a helicopter crew chief, followed by a career in the United States Army, undergoing Combat Aviation training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He served in both Gulf Wars and served during rescue operations at the World Trade Center.

MAJ Lewis’ military decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (3), National Defense Medal (2), Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Naval Unit Commendation.

Special Instructions:

Staging at the funeral home with flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Services scheduled for 11:00 a.m., followed by dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with full military honors.

Flags will not be provided  
If you have a Large Flag Bike, please bring it
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.

Special Instructions:

Interment with full military honors scheduled for 2:00 p.m.  For those riders staging directly to the cemetery, please be aware of any services already in progress. Please do not pass the Stratton Memorial area until services are concluded.

Members arriving early enough are encouraged to form a flag line at the entrance to the cemetery for the arrival of the escort and funeral cortege.

Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
