Honor Mission

Robert J. Mix, Veteran

USMC, WWII

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in Honor of another WWII Hero. Robert J. Mix passed away on 6 June 2018 at the age of 92.

Mr. Mix served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943-1945 as a Light Artillery Gun Crewman, and his duty was aboard the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Randolph (CV-15) for 13 months. During this time, the Randolph was involved in heavy action against the enemy and in support of 3 Battles in the Pacific Theater of Operations, including Iwo Jima. Mr. Mix also survived a Japanese kamikaze attack that killed 27 crewman and injured 105. Mr. Mix was Honorably Discharged on 8 November 1945 with the rank of Private First Class, and earned several awards.

Graveside Service at 11:00 AM with military honors. Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American flag or USMC flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are properly placed and securely attached.
