Honor Mission

Veterans Recovery Program
Saratoga National Cemetery

Rensselaer, Lake George and Schuylerville, New York - 06-08-18

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The mission of the Patriot Guard Riders / Veterans Recovery Program is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of veterans in the State of New York through the joint efforts of private, state, and federal organizations: to provide honor and respect to those who have served this county by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.

An interment ceremony (our Seventh in Saratoga National Cemetery) with full military honors, will be conducted on Friday, June 8th, 2018 at 1:00 pm, to provide these long forgotten veterans their richly deserved Honor, Dignity and Respect. Some of these veterans have remained unclaimed for over 45 years.

At this point, the Veterans Recovery Program has 5 veterans scheduled for interment - more may become eligible as our research continues.  The ceremonies this year will be conducted at the far end of the cemetery in the new columbarium wall section.  This event in the previous years has been conducted with great dignity, honor, respect and solemnity. This is always a memorable day and has always made an impact on those who have attended.

American Legion Post 278, 6 Clancy St, Schuylerville, NY will be hosting a luncheon immediately following the ceremonies.  Hope for good weather and a great turnout to honor our long forgotten veterans.
