Memorial Mission

Flag Placement - Saratoga National Cemetery

Schuylerville, New York
Note
Placement on 26 May 2018
Removal on 29 May, Weather Permitting

ABOUT THE MISSION:

For the ninth time in it's existence, Saratoga National Cemetery will have flags placed on each of over 15,000 graves for Memorial Day weekend.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to assist in the placing of these flags for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, and will be responsible for over 800+ graves in Section #8, the Memorial Gardens, and special placements at the three Medal Of Honor recipients sites.

Please be sure to be present for the briefing that will take place at the Main Flag Pole at 07:30. If you miss the briefing, be sure to report to leadership in Section 8 before you attempt to do anything at the cemetery.

This Flag Program is the result, not of VA or government involvement, but because dedicated individuals wanted make it happen.

PGR - We need 30 or so volunteers to be there on the 26th to assist in the punching of holes in the ground and the placement of flags.

For those who can't be there on Saturday, we'll need volunteers reporting at 08:30 am either on Tuesday, May 29th (weather permitting), or Wednesday, May 30th to remove the flags. Please watch your e-mail for updates.

Thanks again everyone for your help with this. This is a most appropriate way to begin the Memorial Day weekend - it's not about the picnics, hot dogs and hamburgers, it's about honoring those who have proudly served our country.
