Honor Mission

Warren R. Miller, Sr., Veteran
USN - WWII

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the U.S. Naval and WWII service of Warren R. Miller, Sr. of Lackawanna, who passed away on May 11, 2018.

Mr. Miller served active duty from 1943 to 1946. He served with Carrier Air Service Units (CASU) 22, 24 and 67, and his most significant service was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp (CV-18) in the Pacific Theater of Operations. The USS Wasp was involved in many very heavy combat support operations, and Mr. Miller was fortunate to survive a bombing of the ship on 19 March 1945 that claimed 102 of his fellow crewmen. Mr. Miller was honorably discharged on 3 March 1946 with the rate of Seaman 1st Class, and was awarded the American Campaign Medal, Pacific Campaign Medal w/9 (yes, nine) Battle Stars; Philippine Liberation Medal w/2 Stars; WWII Victory Medal.

Flag line for arrival of family and friends. Memorial service and military honors at 10:30 A.M. followed by dignified escort to Hillcrest Cemetery, Hamburg, for Inurnment.

Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American or US Navy flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are properly placed and securely attached.

Please Note: Saturday is a very busy day in Region-1, with 6 Missions.
