ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Mr. John A. Powers has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Powers, 99, passed on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

John was an Oneonta native and longtime Davenport Center resident. On February 12, 1941, he enlisted in the Army Coast Artillery and was stationed in San Diego. He was later transferred to Kiska Island in the Aleutians where he was transferred to the 10th Mountain Division of the 87th Mountain Infantry. After training in Colorado and Texas, John shipped out to Italy where he served as a lineman, stringing communications lines along the ground. For his heroic bravery in action, John was awarded the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in 1945 at the rank of PFC.

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for and render dignity, honor and respect for the life and service of Mr. John A. Powers, US Army, "Greatest Generation" hero.

Flags Will NOT Be Provided, Please Bring Your Own.
Large Bike Flags will NOT be needed.
Water WILL NOT be provided, please bring your own.
