Honor Mission

Thomas J. Wagner, Veteran

The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to help honor a Korean War hero. Very proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran Thomas J. Wagner passed away on March 17, 2018 at the age of 87. Mr. Wagner served 4 years active duty from 1948-1952, with an MOS of 0811-Field Artillery Cannoneer, and also served as a machine gunner. He was involved in several campaigns during the Korean War, including the infamous Chosin Reservoir battle. 

While attached to Battery K, 4th Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, on 29 November 1950 PFC Wagner performed conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity during intense action against the enemy, earning him a Silver Star. The next day, he was wounded in action, earning him a Purple Heart. Mr. Wagner was honorably discharged on 31 January 1952 with the rank of Private First Class. In addition to the Silver Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal, PFC Wagner earned the National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal w/3 Stars; United Nations Service Medal-Korea. Mr. Wagner went on to serve his community in several ways, notably as a 50-Gallon blood donor.

Followed by dignified transfer and escort to Forest Lawn Cemetery for interment with military honors.
Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American flag or USMC flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are properly placed and securely attached.
Please do whatever you're able to help honor the heroic Marine Corps service of Thomas J. Wagner, and to support his very proud and loving family.
