Honor Mission

John E. Sherin - USAAF
Schuylerville, New York - 20 Apr 2018

John was born in Cambridge, NY and spent his whole life in Greenwich. He attended Greenwich Central School, and after graduation, was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Force. He qualified for combat crew service and, after ball turret armor and radio operator school, was assigned to a B-29 in the Pacific. At the end of the war, he volunteered for service in the European sector. In Europe, John was assigned to a C-47 crew that flew military personnel throughout Europe and was honorable discharged in 1946 at the rank of PFC.

He went to work as a draftsman for the Eddy Plow Company, General Electric, Niagara Mohawk, and eventually became a foreman for NY Telephone Company in Saratoga Springs where he retired in 1985.

The Patriot Guard Riders were proud to stand for Mr. Sherin during his viewing on January 12, 2018. We will stand proudly once again for his interment, along with his wife, with full military honors.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Mr. Sherin's obituary, available for viewing online at the Saratogian web site at:
