Honor Mission

William G. Welch, Veteran
USA - WWII

Schuylerville, New York - 21 Mar 2018

ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been requested by the family of William "Bill" G. Welch to participate in his military honors funeral.

Bill Welch passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving children. He was born on March 21, 1923 in Albany New York.

He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in China, Burma, and India with a 720 first division.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending summers at his camp with his wife Margery and family. He was a well-respected man, tough but loving and will be sorely missed. Bill worked for N.Y.C.R.R and Conrail for 46 years, retiring in 1988. He and Margery enjoyed many years with his army buddies, going to reunions all over the US. He and Margery started a food pantry and soup kitchen in 1969. Continuing until 1988, assisting Vietnam veterans coming home to get jobs, food, and a place to live. They expanded their work to help any unfortunate persons in need, both receiving the Kiwanis award for all they did. They continued to work together until Margery's death in 2015. He is survived by seven children and many grandchildren.
