Honor Mission

Francis J. Corr III, Veteran
USA - WWII
MULTI-CITY, New York - 12 Mar 2018

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Mr. Francis J. Corr III has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Mr. Corr, 93, passed on March 6, 2018.

Frank graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1942 and immediately joined the U.S. Army. He served honorably and courageously as a medic in the Aleutian Islands and in the European Theater of Operations from 1942 - 1945. After serving at the Presidio in San Francisco, he was sent to Kiska and Adak where he was stationed for 14 months. He was then sent to France and Germany where he worked to save thousands of prisoners when the Dachau Concentration Camp was liberated in April of 1945. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class.

After the War, Frank returned home and worked for the New York State Office of the State Comptroller for 40 years. He volunteered for many years helping patients in the Stratton Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albany. He joined the Civil Air Patrol and attained the rank of Major and was a mission coordinator for a number of years.

Portions of the above narrative are contained in Mr. Corr's obituary, viewable on the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home website at: http://www.lasakgigliottifuneralhome...rr/#!/Obituary

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for, and render dignity, honor and respect for the life and service of Mr. Francis J. Corr III, truly a "Greatest Generation" hero.
