Honor Mission

John J. "Jack" Douglas
US Navy, Vietnam Era Veteran

Schuylerville, New York - 19 Dec 2017


The family of John J. "Jack" Douglas has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Jack, 73, passed on December 12, 2017.

Born in Amsterdam, NY, Jack graduated from William H. Lynch High School in 1961 and in July, joined the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS John Paul Jones (DD-932), a Forrest Sherman-class destroyer. In October 1962 the ship was on station with the Atlantic Recovery Forces during the orbital flight of Commander Wally Schirra, and soon afterward moved off the coast of Cuba during the Cuban Crisis. Jack was Honorably discharged in December of 1964 at the rate of Machinist Mate Fireman (MMFN, E-3).

He began work at GE in 1965 as a Boiler Operator, retiring in 1997. After his retirement, he followed his passion for archery and opened Douglas Archery.

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for and render honor, dignity and respect for the life and service of John J. "Jack" Douglas, US Navy veteran.
