ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of United States Marine Corps Sergeant Nicholas Harold Newell has request Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. SGT Newell died suddenly as a result of a motorcycle accident on October 29, 2017 in Oceanside, CA. He was 24 years of age.

SGT Newell was born in Troy, NY and was a 2011 graduate of Tamarac High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and went on to attend Military Police School. He was awarded Distinguished Honor Graduate and, in April of 2012 transferred to the 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion in Okinawa, Japan. He was selected to become a Military Working Dog Handler (MWD), and was awarded "Top Dog" upon graduation from training. He was promoted to Sergeant meritoriously after attending several MWD schools.

SGT Newell spent several years supporting training operation all over the Pacific, and in 2014, transferred to Joint Base San Antonio Lackland AFB to act as Specialized Search Dog (SSD) instructor. In April of 2015, SGT Newell attended Marine Special Operations Assessment and Selection. After selection in January of 2016, he attended the Individual Training Course and graduated as a Marine Raider (Critical Skill Operator). He was then stationed with the 1st Marine Raider Battalion, Marine Special Operations Company Delta, Marine Special Operations Team 8143. He was married in January of 2017.

Church services scheduled for 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Eagle Mills Cemetery.

Please note: Rather than staging at the funeral home, cagers are requested to stage directly at the church, forming a flag line for the arrival of the procession. Please park out of the way in the lot directly across the street from the church.  Interment will take place at Eagle Mills cemetery immediately following church services.

Our veterans are in need!

The Rochester Area HOTH Warehouse can always use your gently used furniture.  The ROC HOTH Warehouse will be picking up and delivering on November 18, 2017.  The second Saturday is Veterans Day and many PGRNY events are scheduled for that day.  If you have items that meet the criteria, are located in the Rochester area, and would like us to pickup those items, please go to the Donate Items section and either call us at 585-866-1747 or fill out the Furniture Donation Request Pick-up Request Form.  You are welcome to bring your donations to the ROC Warehouse by appointment only.
