William R. Miles, Sr.
US Navy Cold War Veteran

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Mr. William R. Miles, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services.

Born in Albany, Bill was a US Navy Cold War Veteran. He served aboard the USS Nipmuc (ATF-157), an Abnaki-Class oceangoing tug during the Cuban Missile Crisis. For his faithful service, Bill was awarded the US Navy Good Conduct Medal, and was Honorably discharged at the rank of Seaman (E-3).

Bill was a longtime maintenance supervisor at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany and for many years was a valued and dedicated funeral assistant at the McVeigh Funeral Home, Albany. He was a talented carpenter, hard worker and dedicated family man. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club, and longtime usher and member of the Holy Names Society at Blessed Sacrament Church.
