Honor Mission

Audry L. Hediger, Veteran
USMC - Korean Era
Arcade, New York - 09 Sep 2017

ABOUT THE MISSION:

We have been requested to stand in Honor of the U.S. Marine Corps Service of Audrey L. Hediger of Arcade, NY who passed away on June 19th. Mrs. Hediger served during the Korean War Era, from 1952-1953. While on Active Duty, she married her Marine Corps husband, and her time in the Corps was cut short due to becoming pregnant. She was Honorably Discharged on 13 May 1953 with the rank of Private First Class, earning the National Defense Service Medal. Mrs. Hediger remained a fiercely proud Marine throughout her life and attended many Women Marines Association conventions. She flew the USMC flag every day, and according to her son, his mother was "a Jarhead through and through," and the toughest person he knew.
