ABOUT THE MISSION:
We have been requested to stand in Honor of U.S. Navy Veteran Robert J. Barrett of Cassadaga, who passed away on March 15th. Mr. Barrett served from 1948-1952, including service as a Fireman Apprentice aboard the USS Valley Forge (CV-45) during the Korean War. The USS Valley Forge was the flagship of the U.S. 7th Fleet during the war, and received 8 Battle Stars for its Korean War Service. Mr. Barrett was Honorably Discharged on 18 February 1952. Among his many decorations and awards are: Combat Action Ribbon; Navy Unit Commendation Medal; Navy Occupation Medal (Korea), National Defense Service Medal; Korea Service Medal w/Multiple Stars; United Nations Korean Service Medal; Korea Presidential Unit Citation; Republic of Korea War Service Medal. As you will note in the obituary, Mr. Barrett was also very active in the American Legion, VFW, and AMVETS.
