The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to report that for the first time since the inception of the Wreaths Across America program, on December 16, 2017, a Holiday Wreath was placed on every gravesite at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. The Patriot Guard Riders, along with several thousand community volunteers respectfully placed those wreaths, but much more importantly, took the time to honor and remember over 11,000 of our fallen soldiers, sailors and airmen resting in that place of honor.

We wish to sincerely thank everyone who made that goal a reality, particularly those who contributed via the PGRNY “Three For Two” program. Through that program, fully 100% of your contribution went toward the sponsorship of wreaths, with a total of almost 3,800 wreaths (over 1/3 of the total) provided….a truly outstanding effort.

Now that the bar has been set, we look forward to achieving that goal each and every year going forward, and we are confident that with your generous help and support, we can do just that. Once again, our heartfelt thanks for honoring and remembering our fallen heroes.

Thank You from a grateful family

I have been thinking long and hard for the right words to express our love and gratitude to our extended family, The Patriot Guard Riders. The love for my dad Frank Byrnes, and the support to his family during our most difficult time was epic. We are so blessed to have gotten to meet all of you, and my dad was so proud to stand with each and everyone one of you. The stories that were told by the family members that had lost their sons or daughters we will hold forever in our hearts . My dad was a very special person as is each of you. God Bless and keep you all safe.

Love,

Rosalie, Diane, Robert, Bryan, Peter and Alex

Gentlemen. It is not often that I get to write an e-mail like this, but
I hope that you read this to your membership, or forward it to those
that attended a recent funeral here on Long Island.

My extended family recently lost their grandfather, Frank Weiss. I had
always known him as Poppy Frank, even though he was of no blood relation
to me. He was a great and kind man that always spoke with a soft heart.
He passed away last week and I was told that his burial was to be at
Calverton National Cemetery. I hadn't known until that moment that he
had even served his country. I told my father to make sure that the
family notified the funeral home of the fact that he had served and
asked that they take whatever steps they deemed appropriate.

My father is a former member of the Red Knights NY 25. At the funeral,
he was very impressed to see a member of RKNY 26 in attendance, as well
as a nice contingency of the Patriot Guard. The entire family was
further moved when they arrived at Calverton Cemetery where they were
greeted by a flag line of at least 20 members of varying members of
military and the Patriot Guard. The only word they could use to describe
this tribute was AWESOME.

My extended family is from upstate NY and had no idea of the compassion
and love of country that we have here on Long Island. They were truly in
awe. I am personally grateful to all of you that continue every day to
show that we love our military, and those that serve our communities,
and are willing to show them the respect that they deserve.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart! God Bless America!

To PGR Members,

Thank you for your presence on July 8th for the renaming of the Oakdale-Bohemia Bridge for my son, Matt. Many of you stood for my son and my family 10 years ago at his wake and funeral, so it was a very special honor for me to have you in attendance at the bridge renaming also. The PGR has always been an organization that defines honor and respect in a way that makes all of us proud to be associated. When I look back over the years at all the home comings, funerals and Veteran events that the PGR has played a special role in, I feel tremendous respect and admiration for all the members that take their valuable time to serve the veteran community. You guys are the best!

Respectfully,

RB
