As we are approaching the holiday season, it's an excellent time to remember our fallen and their ultimate sacrafice; another way to remember them is to sponsor a wreath.  Sponsoring a wreath through Wreaths Across America is easy.  Whether at Saratoga National Cemetery or another cemetery where you wish to have a wreath placed. Just click on the image to enter Wreaths Across America.  Simply click on the DONATE at the bottom of their page.  Thank you.

The Patriot Guard Riders of Eastern New York have once again been granted Group Sponsorship status within the Wreaths Across America organization. So what does our Group Sponsorship status mean? Well for every two wreaths that are ordered - using our group code – Wreaths Across America will donate another wreath - we get 3 for 2.

As I passed the Baird funeral home in Wayland, NY in the pouring rain yesterday, I was thankful for the Patriot Guard who continued to stand with flags raised to honor and protect our fallen soldier, Devin Snyder. The outpouring of support that our community has received from you has been wonderful. During this tough time it is nice to know that complete strangers feel as strongly about Devin’s sacrifice as those who knew and loved her.

Thanks for all that you do.

The Daily News Article

28 February 2011

Our family would like to thank everyone who supported Robert and his family tonight to celebrate his return "home".  Even with the arrival delay it did not diminish any one's enthusiasm. The past year has been long with many days and nights not knowing where he was, what he was doing, and above all if he was safe.  Your show of support tonight has shown us that there are those who really do  care, those who support our service men and women, and those who understand how difficult it is to send a family member off to war.  Robert noted in his remarks to everyone that there are families who will never be able to welcome their loved ones home as you did for us tonight and we must never forget that they made the ultimate sacrifice.  It has been said many times, but it never gets old, we must always remember that Freedom is not Free. There is a price to be paid.  Tonight as we spend the night as a complete family for the first time in a very long time, there are no words to truly express how our family felt as you supported us, taking time away from your family and busy lives to be there for us.  We are forever grateful.   Thank You.

Dear Patriot Guard participants,

Words cannot express the heartfelt gratitude I and the rest of my family felt with your presence at John's funeral on March 14 and at his interment in Marilla Cemetery.

I did not know how to contact you to show my thankfulness but Howie Steves, my brother, made the connections .... and thus a beautiful ceremony and a tribute to John and his "service days" back in '59-'60s when he served in Germany.

I managed to thanks the people there, or a good portion of them...... 37 in all..... I was told.... but am hoping you can share this note with the many that go beyond the 37 that were present.  May you continue your beautiful work.

with  much love and appreciation.......

John's wife,
Betty Showalter
