As we are approaching the holiday season, it's an excellent time to remember our fallen and their ultimate sacrafice; another way to remember them is to sponsor a wreath.  Sponsoring a wreath through Wreaths Across America is easy.

The Patriot Guard Riders of Eastern New York have once again been granted Group Sponsorship status within the Wreaths Across America organization. So what does our Group Sponsorship status mean? I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for showing you patriotism, respect, and honor to the family, friends, and the honored fallen veteran Sgt. Espy we interred at the Woodlawn National cemetery today.

We are blessed with a community of patriots that do not forget what our precious reserve of veterans have done, and continue to do to keep our country free, and to protect the precious rights we hold so dear. It is community like all of you all whether you live in Elmira or in Washington DC that show the world we are united in how we feel about our service men and women.

Today we had wind, and rain, and a bit of a cool nip in the air, but as I looked around during the service there was not one of you shivering, or fidgeting, or having the look of wishing you were somewhere else, instead what I saw was devotion, and one sightedness caring, and pride that you all stood shoulder to shoulder knowing you are part of a bigger event then what was happing around you physically. The Family of Sgt. Espy was very appreciative, and when I talked with the Niece she said had shivers of pride, and felt it deep in her heart. This family lost a loved one but with your help we welcomed him home and put him and the family to rest, knowing that he was with them once again. The cemetery staff would like to thank each of you for your service and assistance.

Please share this with members of your clubs, VSOs and Staff

To all the AMAZING Patriot Guard Riders whom so strongly honored my father,

Words couldn't possibly express our heartfelt gratitude to all the Patriot Guard Riders that attended my fathers funeral on May 26th 2009. Not only did you all stand tall, strong and unwaveringly, flags held high in honor of my father, but you did so with warmth, compassion and untiring devotion. And all for a man not personally known to you. I sit here writing this with tears of such deep gratitude on my cheeks, and thank you not only for paying such great respect to my father, but also for helping to restore my faith during such a horrible time when I can't help but doubt it. My family will always remember every one of you who stood for our beloved father (son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend), and will forever be grateful for your generosity, patriotism, compassion and service. Scott, the great care with which you personally organized everything, the amazing compassion you showed to me and my family, will never be forgotten. The beautiful plaque you presented to me in honor of my father, words just can't adequately describe how much it all means to me.

I will also forever hold dear to my heart the amazing woman whom came in with me to see my father, and with a comforting embrace, said the most beautiful prayer for him. You have no idea how much that meant to me, how truly it touched me, on such a hard day.

What you all do is so very important and so incredibly meaningful, not only to us as families, but to our country as a whole. While I wish there wasn't such a great need for the services you provide, I pray your services ALWAYS continue, as the love, peace and kindness you bring to every mission and family, I know will be deeply treasured by all whose lives you touch.

May God Bless every one of you, keep you safe, strong and protected, ALWAYS.

Many heartfelt thanks from the bottom of our hearts,

The Family of USMC Capt. Wayne A. Bosco and his children,
Kari Fitzgerald, Jessica Bosco and Jack Bosco

Dear Patriot Guard Riders,
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and the escort you provided for my father’s funeral. We were so impressed and humbled by your presence. Never did we expect such a grand showing of solidarity and respect.
For so many years we’d get yearly reports from the Department of the Army regarding their efforts and progress identifying the missing remains of the fallen. It was a slow process and it was always someone else’s family member found. The current relationship between the United States and North Korea added to my growing skepticism that they’d find my father. Then, one ordinary day, I got a phone call. It was my turn for a miracle. My father’s remains were identified and he was coming home.
My father, Chief Warrant Officer Nava, was a happy, wonderful father and a great soldier. My mother used to refer to him as a man’s man. She said she knew that if he had to die he would be happiest giving his life in the service of his country. “That’s how he would want it...”, she would say. He was military through and through.
Up until my father’s return I felt alone in my grief. That is no longer true. I’ve come to discover that you veterans are a generous bunch. You take care of your own, and have an undying sense of loyalty to each other. When I saw the Patriot Guard at the funeral home, I instantly felt a strong connection to my father’s service and inclusion with the military once again. The enormity of my father’s homecoming and final resting place was overwhelming. You offered your strength in such a dignified, respectful, way. Your devotion to my father as a soldier deserving of such honor was heartwarming. He meant the world to us.
So, thank you for being who you are, for your service to our country and thank you, once again, for the beautiful tribute you paid to my father. I will never forget you, not ever.
With Gratitude,
Mary Nava Kolesar
